FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR CLASS?

We ask that you register for all classes ahead of time using our Yoga Factory Annapolis App, downloaded from any app store. Space is limited, especially at our Annapolis Location.

If you are a first time student, save time by registering online here. Call Phil at (410) 533-1908 to take advantage of our Introductory Deals!

ARE TARDY STUDENTS ADMITTED TO CLASS?

Please realize that our classes begin promptly at their scheduled times and we lock the door when class starts! But if you are running 5-10 minutes late, we understand and will do our best to look out for you, especially if you are registered for class.

If you are running late at the Annapolis studio, please walk around to the Chinquapin Round Road entrance and knock on the door; just remember, we do not wear our shoes in the yoga room. :) At our Crofton location, just wave at the front door until you catch the attention of the instructor in the yoga room.

DO YOU OFFER CHILD CARE?

Yes! We have a Kids Club at our Annapolis location. This space is a serene, safe, and clean atmosphere for your children to play and learn while you are taking class!

We offer Kids Club Monday and Wednesday, from 9am-12pm, and Tuesday and Friday, from 10am-1:15pm.

KIDS CLUB PRICES

One class: $10
One month unlimited: $50
$15 per additional child, per month

IS THE ROOM HEATED?

Yes, our Hot 26 & 2 classes are heated to over 105° with a humidity level of 40%.

Yin/Bliss classes are not heated.

All other classes are warm, varying between 80-90°, depending on the class.

The warmth helps our students stretch and sweat without feeling overwhelmed. It also makes muscles more pliable to prevent injury.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO CLASS?

We recommend wearing moveable exercise pants, leggings, or shorts made of breathable fabric. Form-fitting clothing provides more comfort when practicing.

When practicing Hot 26 & 2 (Bikram style) classes, we suggest women wear tank tops and/or a sports bra, along with yoga shorts or pants. We suggest yoga/workout shorts or swimsuits for men..

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?

Please bring your own mat, towel, water, and shower towel for class, as well as any toiletries and a change of clothes for afterwards.

*Mats and towels are available to rent. At our Annapolis location there is a water fountain and at our Crofton location, water is available for purchase.

Come with a positive attitude and an open mind, too!
*Positivity and openness are an additional bonus of a consistent yoga practice :)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRACTICING YOGA?

⦁ Tone and strengthen all major muscle groups and restore body systems, bringing them to balance

⦁ Increase balance, cardiovascular and muscular strength, flexibility, and stamina

⦁ Promote weight loss and improve your energy levels and metabolism

⦁ Reduce the risk of sports injury and accelerates recovery time; our heated classes in particular allow for deeper, safer stretching, promoting muscle elasticity

⦁ Increase concentration and focus while reducing the effects of stress

⦁ Increase oxygen levels in the blood stream, and improve respiratory function and lung expansion capacity

⦁ Particularly in our hot classes, the yoga helps flush toxins out of the body

HOW OFTEN CAN I PRACTICE YOGA?

Unlike other forms of exercise, you need no rest or recovery days from yoga; you can practice yoga every day! You are energizing your muscles and all systems of your body. The more you practice the more benefits you will see. We recommend a minimum goal of 10 yoga classes per month to see the most benefits. Always, some yoga is better than none!

I HAVE NEVER TAKEN A YOGA CLASS. WHICH CLASS IS BEST FOR ME?

All of our classes are open to beginners, though we recommend our original Hot 26 & 2 or Yin classes if you are a true novice. Yoga is always open to individuals of all fitness levels, and we welcome you to come to our studio just as you are and practice what you wish!

CAN I PRACTICE IF I AM INJURED OR PREGNANT?

If you have never practiced before, it is not recommended to begin your yoga practice during your first trimester. However, for most pregnancies, yoga is not only safe, but beneficial to practice during your entire pregnancy. Some poses are modified slightly to accommodate the growing baby. We especially recommend the Hot 26 & 2 and the Yin/Bliss classes! Many of our teachers have continued to practice yoga throughout their pregnancies and are happy to help with modifications and adjustments for you.

Yoga is for everyone and has many healing benefits. Particularly in our Original Hot 26 & 2 (Bikram style) class, the increased circulation of oxygenated blood throughout the body instigated by the heated environment helps to heal injuries faster and also works to boost the immune system. If you have injuries or illnesses that you are concerned about, talk to us! We can always give you modifications to certain postures until you are well enough to do them as regularly intended. Do what you can, knowing you can always do more as you start to heal.

As always, consult your doctor if you have any  concerns.

WHAT IF I'M NOT FLEXIBLE?

Flexibility, like strength and endurance, is built over time. One of the best reasons to practice yoga is to increase flexibility. With patience, perseverance, and regular practice, you will feel more open. Many of our classes also allow for the ability to adjust the intensity of your postures, so you can stretch as you are best able on any given day.

WILL I FEEL CHALLENGED PRACTICING YOGA?

Yes! All classes, with the exception of Yin, provide a cardio workout while stretching, strengthening, and toning muscles. Make the practice your own by modifying poses to adjust the intensity and, when needed, acclimate to the environment. The more you practice, the healthier, stronger, and more flexible you will become.
